Where'd Church Go?
My plan was simple this morning: Get up, get me and the boy ready for church, prep for jr. church while the boy's in Sunday School, enjoy the praise and worship singing with Phil, then go downstairs with him for his class. The subject was Noah, so it looked like it'd be a straight-forward morning.
I'm told my body was at church today, which is good to know because it seems my mind was elsewhere....
- Except I didn't set the alarm properly last night and woke up a half hour late.
- Except the guy who was scheduled to run sound got strep throat and called -- as I hurried out of the shower -- to see if I would cover for him.
- Except when I arrived after the sound check I was told that the worship band's bass guitar was in channel five on the soundboard, so I filtered it out of the house mix and wound up disappearing the lead guitar by mistake (bass was actually in channel one).
- Except the pick-up on the National Steel guitar that was being used for offertory crackled static all over the offering prayer.
- Except the kids expected snack during jr. church and nobody told me.
- Except the jr. church kids are notorious liars and nobody told me that either.
- Except that one of those kids was mine and I should've known better.
I'm told my body was at church today, which is good to know because it seems my mind was elsewhere....

Where was Dina while all of this was going on?

Occupational hazard: she had to host(ess) a guest group here at the conference center.
What was it with yesterday -- we went out to the car with plenty of time to get to church in time for Sunday School and the car wouldn't start. We tried for several minutes, then went back in. Bob put on his coveralls and went back out and fiddled with it or something (I am not mechanically minded) and it started. Bob says it needs an oil change and probably the spark plugs are gunky or something. Anyway, we did get to church in time for 2nd service. It was probably the coldest morning of the fall yesterday and that may have contributed to the car issue (that and it has about 150,000 miles on it!).
